Week of February 17th

This week in the PYP we did the following:

Grade 4

This week Ms. Samuel's class performed their compositions. I will have them up on my blog next week:

Grade 5s started performing their parodies that they have been creating over the past couple of weeks. We will hear the remainder of them in class next week.

Grade 6s have been practicing in the band and have done some work on understanding rhythms.

This week in the PYP grade 5 and grade 6 continued to practice together as the band. Here is a link to the sheet music for grade 5 and 6 students to practice this week: https://photos.app.goo.gl/tmmk6yR6LYnVbJJN8 Grade 4 did some music fundementals and rhythm work and we learned a new chord on the ukulele, E minor. This week also, students found out about the main roles for Mary Poppins. Directly after March break, students will begin learning the songs and choreography in preparation for the show! Week of February10th

Hello everyone, This week Ms. Dimascio's class presented their compositions in class. The students did an excellent job! Here are some of the student's performances in class. Ms. Samuel's class will present their compositions in class next week. https://photos.app.goo.gl/cTbE9Fu2SSBAeg2B8 Grade 5s continue to work on their parodies and will present them in class next week. Grade 6s practiced together as the band for the first time in quite a while. They should practice Hot Cross Buns as individual students will be asked to perform for the class next week. Welcome!

Welcome all. My name is Mr. Oliver, and I am thrilled to be back for my 4th year at St. Jude’s Academy as the Head of Arts, teaching grade 4,5,6,7 and 8. I have had a very busy summer full of fun events and I can’t wait to hear about all of the things you did this summer as well! It is going to be a great school year, and I am very excited for it to begin! Units and Collaboration : Music for Grade 4 this year will include continuing working on playing Ukulele with students learning a Band instrument in grade 5 and 6. We will be preparing for the Christmas Concert and Arts Night and hope to create an even more magical performance than we did last year! We will also be collaborating with classroom teachers to be able to connect the students learning throughout subjects. In grade 4 we will be working together on Arts Night preparations, will explore coding in music in grade 5, and I am looking forward to working again with the grade 6s on the arts componen...
